Horseboxes, 4x4s and yard vans
Many smaller horseboxes are built on van chassis such as the Iveco Daily, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter, and Euro 6 versions have AdBlue systems. An AdBlue fault on a horsebox isn't just a warning light. It can mean missing a race day, a sale or a vet appointment.
We also see interest from owners of 4x4s used for towing trailers, such as Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover SDV6 models, plus the Volvo, BMW and Audi diesels that do the daily run on the A14 or the A11 towards Norwich.
AdBlue faults we deal with
- Pump failure, which a dealer typically charges £600 to £900 to replace
- NOx sensors, typically £400 to £700 each
- Injectors blocked with crystallised urea
- Contaminated or wrong fluid
- Tank heater failure, common on vehicles left standing through winter
- Software or communication glitches
Horseboxes and motorhomes that sit for weeks between trips are particularly worth checking before a long journey.

Same-day help, 20 minutes away
Newmarket is one of the quicker trips from our Milton workshop, so same-day emergency slots are often possible. Call with your registration, what the dash shows and where the vehicle is. If it's at a yard or stud, let us know about gate codes or access times so we can work around the horses' routine.
Most jobs take 60 to 90 minutes, Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm. If you've got a box going out early on a race day, call us the day before.
Before we arrive at the yard
Yards and studs have their own rhythm, so a little planning makes the visit easier for everyone. When you book, let us know:
- The base vehicle of your horsebox, its year and engine
- The exact warning message and miles left
- Where the vehicle will be parked, and any gate codes or access times
- A contact on site if you won't be there yourself
We need to park alongside the vehicle and keep the ignition on while we work, but there's no noisy machinery involved, so it's a quiet job that won't upset a busy yard. Once we're done, we'll check the warning has cleared and talk you through what was done.

What a zero countdown means for a horsebox
Countdowns typically run 1,500, 800, then 500 miles before a no-restart warning. At zero, the engine won't start once switched off. For a horsebox, that's the situation you really want to avoid away from home, whether it's a racecourse car park or a layby on the A14.
Recovery typically adds £150 to £300, and recovering a horsebox can be more complicated if there are horses aboard. Call us at the first warning, and keep the box at the yard until it's sorted.

Honest advice on MOT and insurance
Our AdBlue solution is ECU software work. In many markets it's typically sold for off-road, export or motorsport use, so check the MOT and emissions rules that apply to your vehicle first. We don't promise MOT passes. Remapping is legal in the UK, but you must tell your insurer.
We always keep a full backup of your original ECU file, so the change is reversible.
