How It Works
We modify the ECU software to disable the DPF system and remove all DPF-related fault codes, regen requests, and warning lights. The physical DPF can be left in place or removed — either way, the ECU will no longer monitor it or attempt forced regeneration cycles.

Why DPFs Block Up — And Why Cambridge Drivers Are Hit Worst
The Diesel Particulate Filter traps soot from the exhaust and burns it off in a process called regeneration (regen). For regen to work, the DPF needs to reach 600°C+ — which only happens on a sustained motorway run of 20+ minutes.
Cambridge drivers tend to do exactly the wrong sort of journeys for a DPF: school runs, city commutes, short town hops. The DPF never gets hot enough to regen properly, soot accumulates, and eventually the filter blocks. Once it's blocked, the only options are professional cleaning (£200-£400, often returns within months), DPF replacement (£1,000-£3,000 at a dealer), or a permanent DPF delete.
How a Permanent DPF Delete Works
Our DPF delete modifies the ECU to disable all DPF-related functions: regen cycles, soot loading calculations, differential pressure monitoring, and the warning light system. The car runs as if the DPF was never fitted.
We can leave the physical DPF in place (purely a software solution) or you can have a straight-pipe section fitted to remove the restriction entirely. Most Cambridge customers go for software-only — it's cheaper, leaves no visual modification, and solves the problem completely.

MOT, Legal Status and What You Need to Know
Important: from February 2014, the MOT visual check includes confirming the physical DPF is present on vehicles that were originally fitted with one. A car with the physical DPF removed will fail MOT. A car with the physical DPF still in place but software-deleted typically passes without issue, but we recommend honest discussion with your tester.
DPF removal is technically only legal for off-road or motorsport use. We'll always advise honestly on your specific situation before you book.
DPF Delete vs Forced Regen vs Cleaning
Forced regen (a workshop running the regen cycle manually) costs £80-£150 and only works if the DPF is mildly blocked. Heavily-blocked filters need physical cleaning (£200-£400) or replacement (£1,000-£3,000). Both are temporary fixes if the underlying driving pattern doesn't change.
A DPF delete from £180 is a permanent fix. No more regens, no more warning lights, no more limp mode — and the cost is recovered the first time you'd otherwise have needed a DPF intervention.
