The Golf GTD and GTE aren't left out either. The GTD's 2.0 TDI EA288 engine gains 30-40 BHP from a Stage 1 remap, taking it from 200 to 230-240 BHP. Combined with the diesel's massive torque, the GTD becomes a seriously rapid and economical car.
For Golf R owners, the gains are even more spectacular. The standard 320 BHP jumps to 370-390 BHP with a Stage 1 remap, and with the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system putting the power down, it's a genuine sports car killer. Stage 2 with a downpipe and intake pushes beyond 400 BHP.
The older Mk5 and Mk6 GTI with the earlier EA888 engine also remap beautifully. The Mk6 GTI Edition 35 and Mk5 GTI are becoming modern classics, and a Stage 1 remap is the perfect way to enjoy them even more without compromising reliability.
